ADOPT A PET: Meet Mick

DECATUR, Ga. - If you dream of coming home to a wet nose, wagging tail and tons of kisses (in addition to, perhaps, a half chewed shoe or overturned trashcan) adopt a puppy from your local pet shelter. According to the ASPCA, approximately 5 million to 7 million domesticated animals enter animal shelters nationwide, every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized. However, you can change those numbers but adopting a "companion" for yourself or your family. Pets are an investment but, in our opinion, an investment well worth the money.

Mick is a small, Border Collie mix puppy. According to PAWS, “Mick is a big goofball who loves to play and loves to love--anyone and everyone. He enjoys toys, playing with other dogs, and people. He is a very energetic dog. He is still so young and curious. He needs a loving and active home. He is working on his basic obedience, and he is picking up on fast.

Juneau is a big guy; he’s an almost two years old Siberian Husky mix. He loves peoples and flirts with everyone who comes to the Humane Society looking for a pet. He has tons of energy but calms down during long walks; so he’ll require a great deal of exercise.

Please help me find my dog

Please help me find my dog

Edgewood -  We received the following letter from a avid 11Alive News viewer from the Edgewood/Kirkwood area.  She unfortunately has lost her dog and is asking for the community's help to find her.  Please read below, and if you have any info or you can volunteer to help her please contact Whitney Teufel below.

My dog Reese escaped from my house on La France Street during a home invasion which occurred at noon Friday, May 20. It is unclear if they hurt her. She is very skittish to begin with, and much more scared now.  She is about 40 to 45 pounds, reddish in coloring, though her body is blond since her haircut. She has a bushy red tail.  She is a very sweet and gentle dog, please don’t chase her if you see her.

Please call me at 404-304-5042 if you see her.

Any help is appreciated.
