Toddler recovering from gunshot wound


DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A 14-month-old boy is recovering after being shot outside his home on Monday night.

D’onte Patterson II was among four injured in the shooting, which happened around 8:30 p.m. at the Austin Oaks apartment complex off of Glenwood Road in Decatur. The boy was with his parents and other family members in the breezeway of the complex.

“He was standing in the middle between both of us,” said the boy’s father, D’onte Patterson. “They didn't say nothing. They just came around the corner and I heard, ‘Pop!’”

Toddler in stable condition following Monday night shooting


DECATUR, Ga. -- A toddler was among four people shot when someone opened fire at an apartment complex in DeKalb County.  

Reports of the incident, which happened in the 4300 block of Glenwood Road, first came into the newsroom around 8:30 p.m. Monday.  

The suspect allegedly walked up and began shooting at a group of people. Authorities on the scene said the victims included two adult men, a woman and a toddler.

Town hall meeting in DeKalb gets heated


DECATUR, Ga -- A fiery meeting in DeKalb County included calls for the Interim CEO to resign.

It was a meeting originally scheduled by Interim CEO Lee May, but he wasn't there.

Commissioner Nancy Jester stepped in and said she would hold the meeting without the Interim CEO. She said cancelling it would be disrespectful to tax payers.

Police searching for men responsible for delivery men robberies


(WXIA) -- DeKalb County Police are searching for a suspect connected to a string of deliverymen being robbed at gunpoint.

It has happened at least seven times with the men at times using empty apartments to target their victims.

So far, four men have been charged in some of these cases that targeted people trying to do their jobs.

"I was worried, scared, like this might be the end," said a former Domino's employee, describing the day he was attacked. He asked us not to reveal his name for his safety. "When I went to go deliver the pizzas, there's a guy on the stairs, he just looked like he was sleeping. I'm walking through the breezeway and another guy jumps out with what looks like a gun."

It was daylight, and the man says he had arrived at the Haverly at Stone Mountain Apartments for the first time.

Former residents in DeKalb Co. file class action lawsuit claiming fraud


DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Some residents of a DeKalb County town home co-op have filed a class action lawsuit alleging fraud and racketeering that has left them homeless.

DeKalb commissioners: Spending was proper, legal


DECATUR, Ga. -- Two DeKalb County commissioners cited in a scathing corruption report are defending their spending of taxpayer money. This comes two days after a report issued by former Attorney General Mike Bowers described spending Bowers called questionable at best, illegal at worst.

"I think that there's an explanation for every one of them," said Commissioner Jeff Rader, looking at a listing of spending in the Bowers report attributed to Rader's office.

Each of DeKalb County's commissioners has an office budget with leeway to spend as the commissioner sees fit. Rader spent mostly on nonprofits. It included $20,000 for ParkPride Atlanta – a nonprofit that improves public parks.

Another mass car break-in: 68 in downtown Decatur


DECATUR, Ga. -- Police are looking into yet another mass car break-in, this time in apartment parking lots in Decatur.

It happened overnight into Friday, with 68 cars hit across three lots on Ponce de Leon Avenue, the main drag in town.
