DeKalb County drive-by shooting victims identified


DeKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A teen is dead and another victim seriously injured after a drive-by shooting in Decatur. 

The shooting happened took place at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday night, off of 3000 Ember Drive. 

When officers arrived, they found the two victims, Jaylon Maddox, 15, and Justin Sellers, 27, with multiple gunshot wounds. They were both taken to Grady Hospital where Maddox later died. Sellers is in serious but stable condition. 

According to police, Sellers and Maddox were talking together when a white model vehicle pulled up next to them and started shooting. The vehicle sped away after the shooting. 

Sources: DA moving forward with indictment process in Anthony Hill case


DECATUR, Ga. -- DeKalb County's district attorney is moving forward with the indictment process in the officer-involved fatal shooting of Anthony Hill, sources close to the investigation tell 11Alive.

Hill, 27, a former Air Force veteran, was shot and killed by a DeKalb County Officer Robert Olsen back in March 2015. Police were responding to a 911 call about a naked man wandering the apartment complex acting erratically. Authorities said the naked man, Hill, lunged at Officer Olsen in a threatening manner.

Police: Woman's false report led to 5-hour standoff


 

TUCKER, Ga. -- Police have charged a woman with making a false report of a crime after alleging a domestic dispute that led to a five-hour hostage standoff Tuesday morning.

Eleven children and a woman were reportedly held hostage as 36-year-old Korrie Thomas was involved in a standoff with police at a Decatur hotel early Tuesday. The standoff ended after police say Thomas stabbed himself in the neck when a SWAT team entered the room.

DeKalb water main break has residents losing patience


UPDATE: DeKalb County officials reported on Thursday that the 14-inch water main break at Superior Avenue and Willow Lane had been repaired. Service is fully restored but officials advise residents to run their water temporarily to get rid of air in the line and water discoloration.

DECATUR, Ga. -- The rains have delayed repairs to Monday’s aggravating break in an old water main in DeKalb County, near the intersection of North Decatur Rd. and Superior Ave.

And Wednesday, the county said water service in that area, which was restored temporarily, will have to be shut off one last time -- this time on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“It’s been hectic,” resident Linda Rice said.DeKalb County is telling residents and business owners that this holiday nightmare will end and water service will be restored -- after Thursday’s cut-off, by around 4 p.m.

2 men arrested for Decatur home invasion, murder


Decatur water main break cuts water to residents


DECATUR -- Some residents in Decatur are still without water after a water main broke Monday.

The break at Willow Lane and Superior Ave. was caused by a construction crew.

Repairs were expected to be completed overnight Monday but when 11Alive went to the scene Tuesday morning, crews said they were still waiting on the city to turn the water off before repair work could start.

We're working to get more information on when residents can expect to have water service restored.

Man found shot dead outside Decatur apartment


DECATUR, Ga. -- Police in DeKalb are investigating after a man was found shot dead outside an area apartment on Saturday.

Authorities responded to East Perimeter Pointe Apartments where they said a resident found the body of the victim, a black male, outside his apartment around 8:30 a.m.

Police are looking for another black male who was seen entering the apartment Friday night.

Officials have not yet released the name of the victim or the person they are searching for.
