Customers Forced to Ground in Frightening Bank Robbery

ATLANTA -- The FBI is asking for the public's help in identifying two robbers who took over a Decatur bank Friday morning.

Masked by bandanas and armed with handguns, the men forced customers to the ground while they robbed the Chase Bank at 2079 S. Hairston Road at 10:15 a.m.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Lamkin says the two took off in a burgundy vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money.

Both suspects are black men who appear to be in their twenties. One is approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. The other is described as between 5 feet and 8 inches tall and 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighing between 160 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information on the suspects or robbery is asked to call the FBI's Atlanta office at (404) 679-9000.

Republican Candidate for Governor Backtracks on "Open Mind" on Casinos

Atlanta, GA (AP)-- Republican gubernatorial hopeful Nathan Deal is backpedaling on casinos after at least one prominent Christian
conservative activist called to voice concerns.
Deal created a stir when he said earlier this month that he was
willing to keep an "open mind" about the possibility of casinos
in Georgia. This week, Deal spokesman Brian Robinson said the
former congressman from Gainesville "personally opposes casino
gambling" and doesn't believe they're the best way to spur the
state's economy. Robinson wouldn't say whether Deal would sign a
veto a casino bill if one landed on his desk.
The campaign of Deal's opponent, Democrat Roy Barnes, said
Deal's waffling shows he "is too unsteady for the job" of
governor.

"[It's] a perfect marriage of flavors and textures," USA Today Pop Candy reader whistleandthumb wrote after Whitney Matheson featured it in her daily pop culture blog.

Like the Luther Burger, the Elvis Doughnut was invented in Metro Atlanta.

Steering Clear of Weekend Road Work

ATLANTA -- You spend enough time sitting in traffic on the way to work. Avoid getting caught it in this weekend as construction projects pick up around Metro Atlanta, weather permitting.

Buckhead: Piedmont Avenue

Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.: One lane of Piedmont Road Southbound will be closed at East Wesley Road for repairs to the water main.

Piedmont Road Alternate (If traffic backs up to North Hills Drive): Take a right onto North Hills. Then go left on Alpine Road to get back to Piedmont, past the point of construction.

If the back up gets really bad on Piedmont Road Southbound: Take a right on Pharr Road and follow it over to Peachtree Road. Go left on Peachtree and follow it to Lindbergh Drive. Take a left on Lingbergh and follow it back to Piedmont.
