News

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- The former chief operating officer of DeKalb Schools will spend years in prison as part of a plea deal.

Patricia Reid is accused of funneling millions of dollars in construction projects to her ex-husband. She was initially found guilty on a RICO charge, but the judge threw out the conviction last fall due to questionable testimony from a state witness.

On Tuesday, she pled guilty to the lesser charge of theft by taking.

Reid will sentenced to 10 years in prison with credit for 15 months already served. She also has to pay $10,000 restitution to the DeKalb County school system.
