DECATUR, Ga. -- A DeKalb County grand jury has indicted a 19-year-old man accused of shooting an Atlanta police officer last month.
Authorities say Cameron Christian Maddox was formally charged Tuesday with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault and attempted murder. He is accused of shooting Officer Dexter Toomer on March 22 from a rooftop in Atlanta's Little Five Points neighborhood.
Toomer was shot in his leg. He was released from the hospital the next day.
Police searched for a day before they arrested Maddox. He remains in jail without bond.
It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
