American Family Insurance top 5 performances

ATLANTA -- Each week, American Family Insurance presents the metro Atlanta area's top 5 high school sports performances.  This week's top 5 come from high school basketball region tournament play.

Number 5 comes from the St. Pius vs. Decatur girls' final.  Asia Durr drove for the score and the Golden Lions captured the region championship with a 51-35 win.

Number 4 is from the Chattahoochee vs. Centennial boys' semifinal.  Marcos Terry's three-pointer caused the Knights to call for a time out.  The Cougars roared into the final with a 54-48 win.

Number 3 comes from the Woodward Academy vs. St Pius boys' final.  The loose ball ended up in the hands of Marcus Hall, who hit the jumper.  The War Eagles soared to the region title, 46-41.

Number 2 is from the Redan vs. Columbia girls' final.  Redan's Brea Elmore spun and scored, but the Eagles won the region crown, 49-46.

ATLANTA -- Before you head out to watch the state playoffs, take a look at the new USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Boys Poll.

This week's list includes a pair of changes in the top 5, but no change at number 1.

Miller Grove and Columbia remain 1 and 2 this week, with Norcross 3 and South Atlanta rising from 12 to 4.  Greater Atlanta Christian completes to top 5.

Marist is 6 this week, with North Cobb, Hillgrove, Eagle's Landing and Shiloh rounding out the top 10.

North Gwinnett drops from 8 to 12 this week.  Alexander slides from 14 to 17, as does Allatoona from 18 to 24.

Grady returns to the list at 21, while Lithia Springs drops out of the Super 25.

ATLANTA -- The latest edition of the USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll  is here, just in time for the state playoffs.

There are changes throughout this week's countdown, even among the top 10.

North Gwinnett captured the region crown by beating Norcross in the championship game.  They are 1 and 2 again this week, with Parkview, Wesleyan and Buford completing the top 5.

Columbia moves from 13 to 6, followed by Tucker, Miller Grove, Cherokee and Alpharetta to complete to top 10.

Stephenson slides from 8 to 13, while Calhoun climbs from 23 to 20.

Mountain View and Jonesboro return at 24 and 25.

Sandy Creek and Mill Creek fall out of the list.

There are charges throughout our lineup, even among the top 10, but no change in the top spot.

Miller Grove still leads the way, with Columbia, Greater Atlanta Christian, Marist and Norcross making up the top 5.

Hillgrove, North Cobb, North Gwinnett, Eagle's Landing and Shiloh complete the top 10.

ATLANTA -- It's region tournament time and high school basketball teams across the Peach State are taking aim at spots in the Georgia High School State Tournament.

This week's USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll has a new face, but the big dog remains on top.

North Gwinnett and Norcross are 1 and 2 this week and seem destined for a third meeting at their region tournament this week. Parkview, Wesleyan and Tucker round out the top 5.

Miller Grove is 6 with Buford, Stephenson, Cherokee and Alpharetta completing the top 10.

Sandy Creek joins the poll this week at 24, while North Forsyth falls out of the Super 25.

After dropping out of the top, the Columbia boys return to first place in the Super 25, with North Gwinnett second, Miller Grove third, Hillgrove fourth and Marist fifth.

Greater Atlanta Christian, North Cobb, Shiloh, Wheeler and Norcross complete the top 10.

Mill Creek and Buford join this week's list, while Berkmar and Villa Rica drop out of the  Boys Super 25.

ATLANTA -- The new USA Today Metro Atlanta Super 25 Girls Poll is here.

This week, there are changes in the top 5, but the name at the stop stays the same.

This week the nationally-ranked North Gwinnett girls solidified their position in the top spot with a convincing win over arch rival Norcross. Also nationally ranked this week are the Parkview girls, who move up to second this week. Norcross, Wesleyan and Columbia round out the top 5.

Buford, Miller Grove, Stephenson, North Cobb and Tucker complete the top 10 in this week's Girls Super 25.

Big movers this week include Redan rising from 24th to 12th, while Mountain View slides from 17th to 23rd.

New additions include Osborne, which joins the list at 19, and Creekview, which is 25th.

Defending state champion McEachern and state finalist Hillgrove drop out of the Super 25 this week.
