My kids love lip balm, especially when it smells like bubble gum. Its important to be careful about what we put on & put in our kids bodies. That's why we love non-toxic locally made Nattie's Naturals!

12-year-old makes great video about Decatur

12-year-old makes great video about Decatur

DECATUR - When asked to come up with a short film that emphasizes Metro Atlanta, entrants to Creative Loafing's Short Cuts contest came up with all sorts of videos -- the contest finalists will be available for the voting public -- i.e., YOU -- to look at starting Friday on Creative Loafing's website.

The contest wanted to see the best of Atlanta's neighborhoods in five minutes or less.

One 12-year-old from Decatur, Giovanni Tortorici, had his short film entry to the contest showed off on Decatur Metro this week. The stop-motion film is called 1,368 Frames of Decatur. Mind you, this is not his first foray into film.

Review: Fernbank Museum Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids exhibit

Review: Fernbank Museum Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids exhibit

When I first heard I was invited to a private preview of Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids exhibit, currently on view at the Fernbank Museum all I could think about was how a museum can make an exhibition that is not based on science. Much to my surprise, I was shocked to discover the real science behind this amazing exhibit.

The exhibit theorizes the kraken may be based on sightings of the corpses of giant squids, which have been known to wash up on shores. Or that legends about giant men or giant birds might come from people finding fossils and trying to make sense of what kind of creature could have had such large bones.  SEE THE MYTHICAL CREATURES AT MY BLOG, LIZA CARDONA
