Jury selection to begin for suspected pimp

DECATUR, Ga. -- A man accused of human trafficking is about to go on trial in DeKalb County.

Jury selection for the case of Erik Djon Ferguson will begin Monday. Ferguon was indicted on 17 felony counts, including a pimping a minor and conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation of children.

"Human trafficking has become a big issue not only in the greater Atlanta area, but across the nation," DeKalb District Attorney Robert James said in a statement. "We see many children exploited at an early age and enticed into a lifestyle of prostitution. Our goal is to protect young people from being exploited by these predators and to prosecute those individuals to the fullest extent of the law."
