2 arrested in Decatur carjacking

DECATUR, Ga. -- Two people were arrested after a carjacking in downtown Decatur Wednesday morning.

Two victims were inside the car when it was taken at around 1:30 a.m. on Sycamore Street. Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said four suspects approached the vehicle. One of them put a gun to the driver's temple and demanded money and the car, while another suspect punched the passenger in the face and took her phone.

Ross said the four suspects jumped in the car and drove away down Church Street. The car was later found abandoned in a yard at South Candler Street and Driftwood Terrace.

Witnesses told police that all four suspects ran from the car after crashing it in the yard. Ross said two of them were later arrested. Both were juveniles.

No names have been released. Ross said the two victims were not hurt.
