Decatur man charged in videotaped spring break sex assault | Crime
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A Decatur man has been arrested in connection with a videotaped sexual assault that took place on a crowded Florida beach during spring break.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, 21-year-old George Kennedy was arrested on Tuesday at LaVista Colony Court in Decatur.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen said the attack took place sometime between March 10-12 on a beach in Panama City. McKeithen said the video shows several men surrounding a semi-conscious woman on a beach chair.
As the woman tries to remove the hands of attackers from her bikini, "she isn't going to know" can be heard in the video, McKeithen said.
Investigators were able to identify the woman through the video. She told police she may have been drugged and did not remember details of it well enough to report it, according to the sheriff.
McKeithen called the video the "most disgusting, sickening thing" he had ever seen.
"It is not safe for our children to be out there on the beaches when these animals are out there conducting themselves like this," McKeithen said. "This is like no more than a group of wild animals preying on a carcass as it's laying in the woods."
Kennedy is charged with sexual battery by multiple perpetrators. He's being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
Two Alabama college students have also been charged in the attack. Troy University students Delonte' Martistee, 22, and Ryan Austin Calhoun, 23, were arrested last Friday.
The video was discovered by police investigating an unrelated shooting in Troy, Ala.
