He’s worked with everyone from Whitney Houston to Enrique Iglesias and Las Vegas-born GRAMMY Award-Winning Songwriter/Actor, Shaffer “NE-YO” Chimere Smith, now considers Atlanta home, yet still finds time to continuously make an impact upon the Atlanta community by providing a brighter holiday season for youth living in foster care.

On Thursday, December 20, NE-YO and his youth foundation, The Compound Foundation, made a surprise visit to the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club located 1330 N. Druid Hills Road Atlanta, GA as a part of his 6th Annual Compound Foundation Giving Tour. Annually he partners with The Boys & Girls Clubs of America as a way to give back generously to the foundation that gave him so much as a young man.

Screams of joy filled the auditorium as NE-YO surprised hundreds of children with hundreds of toys, bikes, shoes, and games! A check in the amount of $10,000 was also presented to Atlanta-based child welfare and behavioral health care nonprofit, CHRIS Kids, in conjunction with The Compound Foundation Recording Studio to aid in ‘unlocking children’s potential’ in a music environment.

Other special guests included business partner Reynell Hay, NFL Superbowl champion Deon Grant; founder of Grant D Knowledge Foundation, The Compound Foundation board members, radio personality Mami Chula of Wild 105.7/96.7FM, supporters from Kids in Distressed Situations, Coca Cola, Creative Recreation, Ubisoft, Cartoon Network, Applebee’s, Lucasfilm Ltd., Together We Rise, Carol’s Daughter and the fabulous gifting assistants, “The Choc-lettes”.
