Massey Matchups Get Good Results in Week 4

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Massey Matchups predicted a Chattahoochee win in the Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net Game of the Week, but the computer underestimated wide receiver Kane Whitehurst and the rest of Chattahoochee's team.

Chattahoochee was predicted to beat Creekview 30-21. But Whitehurst, who accounted for almost 200 receiving yards, and the Chattahoochee offense took care of the Grizzlies' defense. Creekview had only given up 30 points total in their first three games, but the Cougars were able to put 42 points on the scoreboard; Creekview was only able to manage seven points in return. Chattahoochee is now 3-0.

North Gwinnett was supposed to beat Collins Hill 34-14. The Bulldogs actually beat Collins Hill 33-20. The Eagles drop to 1-3 and North Gwinnett brings their undefeated start to 4-0.

Wesleyan was predicted to beat Holy Innocents 24-11. Massey Matchups was almost dead-on in its prediction as the Wolves earned a 24-10 victory.

Southwest DeKalb was supposed to squeak by Marist with a two-point victory if you considered the contest a true home game for the Panthers. Massey Matchups foresaw a different outcome if the game were considered a neutral or home game for Marist.

In any scenario, the computer predicted a close battle that could have gone either team's way. That proved to be the case as it took the longest game-winning field goal in Georgia high school history for Marist to get their three-point win. Kicker Austin Hardin hit a 59-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game.

Despite giving the edge to the wrong team in the Marist-SWD game, Massey Matchups had a successful week. The computer predictor tool goes from having a 13-7 record to 28-9.

Massey Matchups was 15-2 on the week and the point margins and totals proved accurate. Computer predictions usually improve as the season goes on and more data is available on each team.
