Week Four's Game of the Week Nominees

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net's Game of the Week will be tough to predict no matter which match-up fans pick.

The first nominee for Game of the Week is Creekview at Chattahoochee. While some teams have not played a single region game, these two teams have done nothing but battle teams within their region.

2-1 Creekview beat Region 7-4A opponents Sequoyah and Northwest Whitfield in a couple of low-scoring games, then, most recently, lost to Lambert by 10 points. Chattahoochee, a 2-0 team, beat Lambert 31-7 in their season opener and topped Forsyth Central 35-14 in their home opener.

Owners of Blighted, Foreclosed Homes in DeKalb County Face $1000 a Day Fines

DECATUR, Ga. -- The hammer's about to come down, hard, in DeKalb County on owners of foreclosed homes who let their properties deteriorate.

DeKalb is the first local government in Georgia to crack down like this; beginning October 25, owners of any blighted, foreclosed homes in DeKalb County will have to pay a fine of $1,000 a day until they fix them up and clean them up.

"Somebody's coming after them now," said Homeowner Brenda Pace Tuesday evening.

Her neighborhood's story is an old, sad one -- with, maybe, a new, happy ending.

Pace is President of the East Lake Terrace Neighborhood Association, off of Glenwood Ave. in DeKalb County.

Testimony Underway in Kid Rock Civil Trial

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - Testimony is underway in the civil trial against musician Kid Rock stemming from a fight at a Waffle House restaurant near Atlanta.

Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, and five members of his entourage appeared Tuesday before a DeKalb County judge.

In the lawsuit, Harlen Akins claims the musician cursed at him during the early-morning fight in October 2007, and members of his entourage beat Akins up and smashed his cell phone.

Akins attorney, Eric Hertz, questioned a female employee who was in the restaurant at the time of the altercation.

Waitress Melissa Burke said she initially thought Akins and Kid Rock's group were there together, but then watched things escalate.  She said she saw Kid Rock hit Akins and Akins did not fight back.

Kid Rock pleaded guilty in March 2008 to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.
